While the mindless churning out of posters is usually reserved for big studios and their tentpoles, this trend has an uptick in the smaller film scene. We saw the ensemble of Moonrise Kingdom each get their own look and now The Weinstein Company have released six character posters for John Hillcoat‘s upcoming crime drama ahead of its Cannes premiere. Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman and Guy Pearce all get their own one-sheet and I suppose Mia Wasikowska wasn’t good enough to garner her own. In related news, Chastain opened up to USA Today about her first nude scene in the highly-anticipated film. She said, “It will be totally embarrassing. I am going to be bright red. I’ll have to cover my eyes during that scene.” Chastain also talked about her sex scene with Hardy and how she is more in control, adding “I am not being objectified. So I was excited to shoot it. It puts the woman in a very powerful position.” So, we’ve all got that to look forward to I suppose. Lawless premieres tomorrow at Cannes and will hit theaters on August 29th.
