Although Disney picked up the rights to the Indiana Jones franchise late last year, we quickly learned it wouldn’t be Star Wars-esque situation, getting a new film to theaters as quickly as possible. Instead, when it comes to the status of the Harrison Ford-led series, Disney chairman Alan Horn said,  “We haven’t done anything. We don’t have a story. We need a story.” According to a new rumor, perhaps their stance has changed.

Latino Review reports that Disney is possibly looking to turn this one into a James Bond-esque franchise. While they still would like Ford to return to the role, there will inevitably come a time when he just won’t cut it anymore. Add in the fact that money talks in Hollywood and Ford simply isn’t a box-office draw (just look at Ender’s Game, which barely passed its production budget worldwide), and the studio is eying others to take on the part in another iteration for a new trilogy.

Rumored to be high on the list to take the whip is none other than Bradley Cooper, who was long wanted by fans to head up a similar Uncharted feature adaptation. He’d certainly fit the part, but it’s far from confirmed, so we’ll have to see how this one shakes out. In the meantime, Frank Darabont is reportedly being eyed to write the script, with experience having worked on the Indiana Jones TV series, and a pitch Disney has taken a liking to.

Would you like to see Bradley Cooper take over the Indiana Jones franchise?
