While production on his Hollywood debut seemed to go completely under that radar, Incendies director Denis Villeneuve is currently putting the finishing touches on his Jake Gyllenhaal-led thriller An Enemy for a 2013 release and it seemed to go well, as his follow-up is barreling ahead with more casting.
Titled Prisoners, the thriller has had a string of talent attached, including Bryan Singer, Antoine Fuqua, Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender and more. But now it has been confirmed that Hugh Jackman will be leading the project and according to a press release, Melissa Leo will join him.
Written by Aaron Guzikowski (Contraband) the story revolves around Keller Dove, a father who abducts and tortures a man he suspects of having kidnapped his daughter and her best friend. No word on who The Fighter star will play yet, but the film sees the father go up against a cop and things unravel from there. Leo makes a fine addition to the ensemble, with likely many more to be announced, and she’ll next be seen alongside Denzel Washington in Flight and opposite Tom Cruise in Oblivion.
Production kicks off early next year for a fall 2013 release.
