You’ve seen the trailer for Martin Scorsese‘s Hugo, but we’ve taken a closer look and provided 80+ high-resolution images from the footage. Taking a peek at a number of these stills you can see Scorsese actually put some thought into the 3D, as promised/expected. With the above image there is a clear sense of care in the multiple planes of vision and sense of space. I don’t think I’ve ever said it, but I’m actually looking forward to seeing a film in 3D and I can thank Scorsese for that.

His cinematographer Robert Richardson has been hit-or-miss with me. Sometimes the overhead spill that has become his trademark is overdone (see Eat Pray Love or Inglourious Basterds), and then other times he nails it (see The Aviator and Shutter Island). His work here on Hugo seems to be gorgeously fitting. Check out the stills below following the trailer and let us know your favorite.

Hugo hits theaters November 23rd, 2011.
