If you need a blockbuster script to be written these days, for reasons I can’t entirely grasp, it would seem that Saw (IV, V, VI, VII) writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are your guys. They’ve recently been hired to re-work Guillermo del Toro‘s upcoming epic, Pacific Rim, the God of War adaptation, as well as the sci-fi-esque Rise for Warner Bros.; and not to mention an adaption of their novel, Black Light.

This time, Deadline has reported that the dramatic duo will be rewriting the supernatural thriller, Waterproof, for Legendary Pictures. The synopsis for the film, thus far, is as follows: “a teen boy accidentally unleashes monsters on his small town after finding an order form in an old comic book.”

Although I am pretty excited for Pacific Rim, I can’t say any of their other prospects sound interesting to me. I do think they’ve found their specific niche in Hollywood that suits a particular audience, as well as their writing — which could explain why they are still gathering a good amount of deals. Dunstan recently directed their script, The Collection, which premiered at Fantastic Fest this past weekend.

Will you be seeing Waterproof upon its arrival?
