For those that want to break into the industry, start PA’ing. Bobby Glickert did just very that on Michael Bay‘s first Transformers film. Now, after recently being an assistant to director Justin Lin on Fast & Furious, he will have his shot at directing his first feature, Deadline reports.

Paramount Pictures, who is currently producing the J.J. Abrams/Steven Spielberg alien project Super 8, will finance another modestly-budgeted invasion flick. Michael Bay will help produce what’s being called “the Confidential Alien Project.” Think Cloverfield mixed with Paranormal Activity.

You can check out Robert Glickert‘s shorts here: Road to Moloch and his thesis project The Descendent.

It’s insane how many sci-fi/alien projects are being developed. D.J. Caruso‘s I Am Number Four and Jon Favreau‘s Cowboys & Aliens are both at Paramount. Battle: Los Angeles comes out next March while Skyline hits in November. The Darkest Hour is also filming soon and Oren Peli‘s Area 51 is done and ready for a release. Let’s not forget the District 9 and Cloverfield sequels, which are likely quite a ways off.

Are you sick of all the alien invasion flicks or are you ready for more?
