What better way to celebrate Christmas then seeing a group of today’s hottest male stars, barely clothed, up on stage? Warner Bros. has answered the request and delivered the first official image from Steven Soderbergh‘s male stripper movie Magic Mike. Starring Channing Tatum, and inspired by his real-life experience, the coming-of-age drama also includes an ensemble made up of Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Gabriel Iglesias, Olivia Munn, Riley Keough, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cody Horn, Adam Rodriguez, Kevin Nash and Betsy Brandt.

The first image (in hi-res below) comes from Collider and features McConaughey, who seems to be a ringleader in the group with his festive outfit. We can also see in the official synopsis below that Pettyfer (left) is an apprentice to the experienced Tatum (right). WB classifies this one as a “dramatic comedy,” so I’m looking forward to see what kind of tone Soderbergh captures, cause there is definitely some fun to be had with this cast and concept. Check it out below.

Synopsis:

Set in the world of male strippers, “Magic Mike” is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Channing Tatum (“Dear John,” “Step Up”) in a story inspired by his real life. The film follows Mike (Tatum) as he takes a young dancer called The Kid (Pettyfer) under his wing and schools him in the fine arts of partying, picking up women, and making easy money.

Magic Mike hits theaters June 29th, 2012 release, on the same day as Tatum’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
