New details have surfaced on Marc Webb’s Spiderman relaunch. EW.com says that Webb is currently auditioning actresses to play off the new Peter Parker, Andrew Garfield. The big news? There are two female leads.

So it appears that the high school set Spidey will center on, or at least involve, a Mary Jane Watson-Peter Parker-Gwen Stacy love triangle. The biggest names attached to the auditions right now are Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland) and Emma Stone (Easy A). This has led many to speculate that the blonde Wasikowska would play Stacy while auburn-headed Stone would take on redhead Watson. However, it all depends on which version of the Spiderman comics the script follows. In more recent revisions, Gwen Stacy is a sassy badass, which would suit Stone better than the smiley bobblehead Watson we’ve seen Kirsten Dunst do for three movies.

There’s also word that Lily Collins (The Blind Side) has met with Sony producers, but Sony refuses to comment and no deals are inked, so we’ll have to wait and see.

The film is slated to begin shooting at year’s end, and is currently scheduled for a 2012 release.

Who would you like to see play Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy?
