For a wide variety of directors who deliver their debut to great success, they’ll follow it up with a feature that’s in the same vein, either stylistically or plot-wise, but for Margin Call helmer J.C. Chandor, his sophomore couldn’t be anymore different. Leaving the fast-paced, dialogue heavy, ensemble world of his financial thriller, he jumped from Sundance to Cannes with All is Lost.

Featuring almost no dialogue and a location far removed from Wall Street, the project finds Robert Redford stranded at sea. One of our favorite films at the festival, our review said, “with a performance that’s sure to be remembered for years to come, All Is Lost is a surprisingly mature and profound tale about overcoming the impossible, even if it means sacrificing everything.” The first trailer has now landed, which can be seen below, followed by the debut clip, if you missed it.

All is Lost opens on October 25th.
