The worst film I saw at Toronto International Film Festival this year, and a contender for all of 2010, was John Carpenter‘s The Ward. I posted a capsule review here, but it was less-than-TV-quality garbage that brings nothing new to a genre that’s already been run into the ground. I can’t believe I skipped Blue Valentine to see it, but that is another story.

The film, starring Amber Heard, Lyndsy Fonseca, Danielle Panabaker, Jared Harris, Mika Boorem, Mamie Gummer, and Sydney Sweeney, is getting a UK release this month and with the first screening last night, Bleeding Cool has uncovered a “partial trailer.” It shows us under a minute of footage, and that’s all about you need to know to avoid this. If a full one is uncovered, I will post it here. Please, just watch Martin Scorsese‘s Shutter Island again before paying to see this. It just got added to Netflix Watch Instantly, so no excuses.

Synopsis: A thriller centered on an institutionalized young woman who becomes terrorized by a ghost.

The Ward will hit theaters in the UK on Jan. 21st and no US release is set yet.

What do you think of the trailer? Will you avoid it?
