It looks like screenwriter Anthony Peckham has stayed smart and realized sticking with blockbusters is his forte. He was responsible for the Clint Eastwood Oscar-bait disaster Invictus, but also crafting the enjoyable Sherlock Holmes last year.

THR is now reporting he will work for Paramount on the next Jack Ryan film, Moscow, after Hossein Amini and Adam Koxac both had their hands on the script. LOST director Jack Bender is attached to helm the blockbuster starring Chris Pine (Star Trek, Unstoppable).

The action film will “tell the story of Ryan’s early career, set in Russia “with terrorist acts as a backdrop.” Shooting is looking to start as soon as 2010, but likely early 2011.

Chris Pine will next be seen in Tony Scott‘s Unstoppable, which looks ridiculous in the worst way possible. I’m looking forward to see him as the next Jack Ryan as well as step back into his Kirk boots for Star Trek 2, also set to shoot next year.

Did you like Invictus and Sherlock Holmes? Is Peckham a good fit for Moscow?
