One of the titles that we’re most looking forward to amongst the stellar 66th Cannes Film Festival line-up is then next work from Alexander Payne, who returned two years ago with his drama The Descendants. Following the success of that George Clooney-led film, our helmer is veering in a different direction, taking on the black-and-white tale Nebraska.

Bruce Dern leads the story of a curmudgeonly old drunk who believes he’s won a million dollars from a sweepstakes and drags his son (Will Forte, in another dramatic turn after the Tribeca hit Run & Jump) on a roadtrip to collect the prize. We’ve now got the first clip from the competition title, which sees our two aforementioned actors have a confrontation with film’s antagonist, played by Stacy Keach. Filled with the smart, sharp writing we expect from Payne, check it out below.

Cannes Film Festival kicks off on May 15th and Nebraska hits theaters in November.
