Michael Connelly’s bestselling novel The Lincoln Lawyer has gotten the movie treatment thanks to director Brad Furman (The Take). Matthew McConaughey is our lead alongside Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei, John Leguizamo, William H. Macy, Josh Lucas, and Michael Peña. The film was originally to be directed and starring Tommy Lee Jones. I’m sure tone would have been much different as this looks like simply over-stylized, schlocky fun. Check out the trailer below via Yahoo.

Synopsis: Mickey Haller (Matthew McConaughey) is a Los Angeles criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln sedan. Haller has spent most of his career defending garden-variety criminals, until he lands the case of his career: defending Louis Roulet (Ryan Phillippe), a Beverly Hills playboy accused of rape and attempted murder. But the seemingly straightforward case suddenly develops into a deadly game of survival for Haller.

The Lincoln Lawyer hits theaters March 18th, 2011.

What do you think of the trailer? Are you glad to see McConaughey temporarily step away from leading rom-coms?
