Her father, horror maestro Dario Argento, stopped by Cannes with his last film, Dracula 3D, and now Asia Argento will grace the festival with her latest directorial effort, one that doesn’t look to have any genre elements. Incompresa (aka Misunderstood), which will premiere in the Un Certain Regard section, follows a young girl whose parents are in the middle of a divorce and she embarks on her own path.

The first trailer (sadly, without subtitles yet) and poster have now landed which showcase a lively, vibrant drama that’s now on our radar. Check them out below, along with a synopsis for the film starring Charlotte Gainsbourg, Gabriel Garko, Giulia Salerno, Gianmarco Tognazzi, Max Gazzè, Anna Lou Castoldi, Alice Pea, and Carolina Poccioni.

Her parents do not love her as much as she would like. Aria, pulled back and forth in the conflict between her father and her mother, rejected and pushed away, walks through the city with a striped bag and a black cat, touching the abyss and the tragedy and just trying to protect her innocence.
