With Beyonce‘s baby finally being born, we can now get the thing we’ve all been waiting for: a Clint Eastwood remake of A Star is Born. With Russell Crowe, Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio circling (and the former probably getting his musical needs out of the way in Les Miserables), a new wanted man has emerged. Variety is reporting that Tom Cruise is on the top of Warner Bros’ list for this fourth remake.

If he accepts, he’d be taking the role that Fredric March, James Mason and Kris Kristofferson inhabited in the 1937, 1954 and 1976 films, respectively. The role is of a fading male rock star who helps out an aspiring young singer/actress with her career, all while dealing with alcoholism.

Cruise will also play a rock star in the spotlight this summer in Rock of Ages. That one is bound to be a more poppy, silly character than one Eastwood would recreate. But the problem is Cruise is starting up Joseph Kosinski’s big blockbuster Oblivion, as well as Doug Liman‘s We Mortals Are. Could he sneak this in between? Stay tuned, while you can see him stretch his vocal cords on June 15th.

What do you think about Tom Cruise possibly teaming with Beyonce? Is this a remake that needs to happen?
