Sam Worthington better get his space suit back on. After venturing deep into the galaxies in James Cameron‘s Avatar, Warner Bros. has acquired a pitch for a new sci-fi film from Aaron Guzikowski (who scripted Prisoners, to be directed by Denis Villeneuve of Incendies fame). [Deadline]

Spare details are available, only that it is a “grounded space war film,” and that Clash of the Titans producer Basil Iwanyk is on board. After his break-out in Terminator Salvation, and then two huge 2010 blockbusters with Titans and Avatar, Worthington has thankfully shown he is more than just an action robot with dramas like Last Night and The Debt.

I’m not sure what a “grounded” film about a space war would contain, but I’m still somewhat on the Worthington boat. I’m looking forward to his upcoming drama Man on a Ledge and The Fields, from Michael Mann‘s daughter Ami Canaan Mann. He stars alongside Jessica Chastain and Chloe Moretz, but we haven’t heard a peep about the film yet. As for Guzikowski, he also wrote Contraband starring Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale and Ben Foster. One can see that film next March.

What do you think about Worthington heading into space again?
