Night at the Museum

Of course attending the premiere of Night at The Museum: Battle of The Smithsonian was director Shaw Levy. I got the chance to talk to him and he gave me some updates on Hardy Men and is upcoming film Date Night.

What’s going on with Hardy Men?

Shawn Levy: Continuing to work on the script, by far the most popular movie I have never not made.

Is Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller still attached to star?

Shawn Levy: Still Tom and still Ben. The three of us continue to hammer away on the script, and if the script ever gets solid, we will make it.

What can we expect Date Night?

Shawn Levy: Steve Carrell, Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Mila Kunis, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, and Mark Ruffalo.

So it’s a little independent movie?

Shawn Levy: It’s just like this one. I’m clearly a complete slut when it comes to casting big name actors. It’s great to do a comedy about relationships, and were shooting it right now.

After this opens huge when are you going to fit in a third film to finish the trilogy?

Shawn Levy: I not only hope it opens huge, but it plays well during the rest of the summer. Ask me after memorial day, if people still seem to like it then I would love to do another one.

One week after the opening Pixar’s Up is coming out, if you had to tell people to see this what would you say?

Shawn Levy: You know what, I think that frankly a lot of what we try to do in this franchise is what Pixar does brilliantly. Which is to make a family film that is smart, un-condescending, and genuinely for kids and adults. So, I certainly hope that are movie is equally as sharp, smart, and as unexpected.
