Since any New York City cinephile has a nearly suffocating wealth of theatrical options, we figured it’d be best to compile some of the more worthwhile repertory showings into one handy list. Displayed below are a few of the city’s most reliable theaters and links to screenings of their weekend offerings — films you’re not likely to see in a theater again anytime soon, and many of which are, also, on 35mm. If you have a chance to attend any of these, we’re of the mind that it’s time extremely well-spent.

BAMCinématek

“Hot Dern!” continues with Psych-Out this Friday (11/22), The King of Marvin Gardens on Saturday (11/23), and with a Sunday (11/24) screening of Walter Hill‘s The Driver. All except the Nicholson-starrer are on 35mm.

Museum of Modern Art

A series centered on the Berlin Film School commences this weekend, offering up some of the more important work in contemporary world cinema.

Museum of the Moving Image

Bernardo Bertolucci‘s The Conformist, a film practically begging to be seen on a big screen, goes 35mm on Friday (11/22). If you’ve never seen it, now is the time.

Film Society of Lincoln Center

Your weekend could be filled with Harold Pinter, thanks to the series “Harold Pinter: Comedies of Menace & Quiet Desperation.” Films from William Friedkin, Elia Kazan, Joseph Losey and others will play; a full schedule can be seen here.

The Harold Lloyd-led Safety Last! will play on Saturday and Sunday (11/23, 11/24).

Film Forum

The theater’s main repertory selection for this weekend is the Visconti-helmed, Claudia Cardinale-led Sandra, which is booked for several engagements.

Early though it may be, Miracle on 34th Street will play this Sunday (11/24), along with the less-family-oriented John F. Kennedy: Years of Lightning, Days of Drums, screening that same day as a commemoration of his assassination.

IFC Center

Brazil and Land of the Dead will screen on Saturday and Sunday (11/23, 11/24), the latter getting a 35mm showing.

On the opposite end of the day, one can enjoy Redford and Newman in The Sting.

Nitehawk Cinema

Playing on a print is the ’80s horror title Street Trash, playing at midnight on Friday and Saturday (11/22, 11/23) as part of “THX BKLYN.”

To coincide with that series, Saturday and Sunday (11/24) afternoon brings a “Live + Sound + Cinema” event when Reel Orchestrette provide music for the ’50s comedy Little Fugitive; brunch is included.
