As the 66th Cannes Film Festival concluded this past week, there was one clear favorite: Abdellatif Kechiche‘s drama Blue is the Warmest Color. The French film tracking the coming of age story of a young woman not only picked up the highest honor of the Palme d’Or, but was our personal favorite from the festival. Starring Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux, we’ve now got the first footage from the film thanks to two debut clips from the Cannes press site.
As we noted in our review, one can see the “raw emotional power akin to the Dardenne brothers,” and “Kechiche’s direction is subdued yet penetrating, and it seems near-impossible not to be moved by both the joy and pain in Adele’s experience.” We summed up the film, saying, “Affecting and powerful in its portrayal of love, Blue is the Warmest Color is an epic ode to the enduring affection which overwhelms when we find that special someone.” Check out both clips below.
