New posters for three movies were recently released, each giving some insight to what viewers can look forward to this April. On April 6 comes The Cold Light of Day, the movie where seasoned action stars Bruce Willis and Sigourney Weaver play a kidnapped couple saved by their son (Henry Cavill). Courtesy of Empire, this uninspired second poster (we reported on the first one last week) doesn’t give much away except that Cavill and Willis are, indeed, in the film.

Synopsis:

Will Shaw (Henry Cavill) goes to Spain for a weeklong sailing vacation with his family but his whole world turns upside down when the family is kidnapped by intelligence agents hell-bent on recovering a mysterious briefcase and Will suddenly finds himself on the run.

Up next is a new poster for the futuristic sci-fi shoot-em-up Lockout starring Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace. Pearce plays a wrongly convicted man trying to earn his freedom by rescuing the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by inmates. If “outer space prison” doesn’t grab you, the movie was co-written by Luc Besson, the man known for both brilliant action (La Femme Nikita, The Professional) and ridiculous sci-fi (The Fifth Element), so who knows how this little adventure will turn out. Directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, who both share writing credits with Besson, the film will hit theaters April 20. [IMPawards]

Finally, there’s Bernie, a dark comedy about a Texas mortician who kills a wealthy widow, then goes to great lengths to create the illusion that she’s alive. Directed by Richard Linklater and starring Jack Black, Shirley MacLaine and Matthew McConaughey, the poster from EW features a creepy mustachioed Black front and center and nicely topped off with a foreboding Dexter-esque splash of blood. I read a preview about the film last summer, and I’ve since been curious about it despite the lack of hype. Bernie will see limited release on April 27.

Synopsis:

Black plays Bernie, the beloved mortician in a small Texas town. MacLaine is the town’s richest, meanest widow, and even she adores him. No one will say a bad word about Bernie—even after he commits a very nasty crime.
