After pulling off the rare feat of earning the top acting prizes at both Cannes and the Oscars for different films, Julianne Moore returns this year for another promising drama. Freeheld, coming from Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist director Peter Sollett, follows the true story of a lesbian couple (with the other half played by Ellen Page) who fought for domestic partner benefits a decade ago.

With a script by Ron Nyswaner (Philadelphia), the first emotional trailer arrived today. “The political story and the personal story are one for me,” Sollett told Buzzfeed, who debuted the trailer. “It’s always our own sort of issues that pop up when we’re falling in love. But unfortunately, on top of those, these women had to deal with the prejudice and the obstacles set up for them by their local government. But for me, they’re one and the same: The personal is the political.”

Also starring Michael Shannon, Steve Carell, and more, check out the trailer and trio of posters below ahead of a release this fall.
