Initially Charlize Theron was replaced by Angelina Jolie, now THR is reporting Johnny Depp is in talks to take over for Sam Worthington (who originally replaced Tom Cruise) in the upcoming remake of The Tourist. The shifting is not only on the acting side. Directors Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (The Lives of Others) and Bharat Nalluri (Miss. Pettigrew Lives For a Day) were both attached at one point. Now it looks like Alfonso Cuaron is in early talks to command the remake of the 2005 french film Anthony Zimmer, which is about a female Interpol agent who draws an unwitting American tourist into her attempt to locate a criminal who was once her lover.

This line-up sounds fantastic. I can confidently say Alfonso Cuaron‘s Children of Men is my favorite film of the decade and possible of all time, so I’m looking forward to anything he is attached to. Johnny Depp is also a welcome addition. I wonder if he has to choose between this or Pirates 4, hopefully we will find out soon.

What do you think about the film and its recent casting news?
