Debuting in 2010, it’s only been a matter of time for the director of the drama Incendies to get his bigger-budget Hollywood debut. After toying around with a few other project, Denis Villeneuve is finally set to begin production on a psychological thriller titled An Enemy. With Jake Gyllenhaal already set to lead, the rest of the major cast has been rounded out for the film that revolves around a teacher who, upon discovering his own double on a DVD, seeks out the man, finds him, and “ends up turning both of their lives upside down.”

Deadline reports the additions for the film, which originated from José Saramago‘s novel and adapted by Javier Gulló. Sarah Gadon, who has a major role in David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis, will play the wife of his double, while Inglourious Basterds star Mélanie Laurent has jumped on as his wife in the main storyline and Isabella Rossellini rounds out the rest of cast. While we seemed to be the few that didn’t appreciate Villeneuve’s previous film, this is a fine ensemble and hopefully a concept that the director can pull off.

Production begins in Toronto next week.
