Way back in 2009, Aaron Guzikowski‘s script was Black List-ed, cast with Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg on board what was to be a Bryan Singer film. Then that all fell apart, only to be resurrected by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Brooklyn’s Finest) and Hugh Jackman. Then that, well, you know. The project would then get the now-obligatory Leo DiCaprio pass and fall back onto the Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment shelves.

Now, with Incendies opening up to decent limited numbers ($54,000 on 3 theaters) and solid reviews (a Foreign Film Oscar nom, despite our general dislike of the film), the film’s writer/director Denis Villeneuve has been groomed to take on the vigilante thriller, which concerns a working class Boston dad whose daughter is kidnapped. Hell-bent on finding her and her kidnappers, takes hostage the man he thinks responsible for the crime.

None of the aforementioned actors are attached anymore, but the producers are casting now in hopes of a fall production start [L.A. Times]

What do you think of this film? Sound interesting? A good fit for the Incendies helmer?
