Dwayne Johnson is returning to what he knows best in revenge thriller Faster, from Notorious director George Tillman, with the first look at the film (below) reported in USA Today.
After starting his post-wrestling, acting career with burly actioners like The Scorpion King and The Rundown, Johnson has gone a little soft of late (though no-one would say that to his face) with a run of Disney films. With this first look, I think we can safely say that he is well and truly back in mean mode, the production still showing Johnson looking more bad-ass than we’ve ever seen him.
The storyline of Faster reads like a US remake of classic Get Carter (purposefully side-stepping the Stallone “attempt” at a remake in 2000), with Johnson playing an ex-con out to avenge the death of his brother. Billy Bob Thornton and Carla Gugino will play the police on his tail, with Moon Bloodgood and Maggie Grace also supporting.
