According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has hired Zombieland screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to write the upcoming Deadpool spin-off that is set to star Ryan Reynolds. It is unclear when production is going to begin on the project but apparently Reynolds is available once he wraps his other superhero film, The Green Lantern. Of course that is assuming the script is finished by then. No director has been hired for the project.
I have been following this project very closely since the Deadpool character was the best part of Wolverine. I still say the costume won’t play well on film but beyond that, Reynolds is still the perfect choice. I love Zombieland, it was one of my top 10 films of last year and I can’t wait to see what Reese and Wernick do with the property.
