Speculation on all things Maleficent continues to gather momentum, with Angelina Jolie now reportedly interested in taking on the lead role in Disney‘s upcoming, live-action take on the Sleeping Beauty villain.
So far, the only concrete news on the project is that Alice in Wonderland scribe Linda Woolverton has been brought in to write the script, but there are rumours abound that Tim Burton is contemplating directorial duties.
Development is at a very early stage, so there may be several names linked between now and production, however should both Jolie and Burton attach themselves to the film the result could be intriguing, with the director’s particular off-beat, gothic brand marrying well with an actress who made her name with quirky performances.
