With Cannes Film Festival kicking off next week it means the first look at a number of premieres will be arriving in anticipation of their debut. One of the most intriguing is In Bed with Victoria director Justine Triet’s new drama Sibyl, which will be premiering in competition.

Starring Virginie Efira, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Gaspard Ulliel, the film follows a psychotherapist and her patient, an up-and-coming actress. The former, played by Efira, mines on the life of the latter, played by Exarchopoulos, as she returns to writing. The first trailer has now arrived and while no subtitles are available yet, it plays up the melodrama in an entertaining fashion.

Sibyl, a jaded psychotherapist, returns to her first passion: writing. But her newest patient Margot, a troubled up-and-coming actress, proves to be a source of inspiration that is far too tempting. Fascinated almost to the point of obsession, Sibyl becomes more and more involved in Margot’s tumultuous life, reviving volatile memories that bring her face to face with her past.
