Steve Carell & Keira Knightley In ‘Seeking a Friend’ Poster and Whit Stillman’s ‘Damsels’ One-Sheet

Written by on February 8, 2012

With most poster round-ups we get a few stinkers mixed in, but today we have three films that are high up on my most-anticipated of 2012 list. First up is a film that I unfortunately missed at Toronto International Film Festival last fall. Damsels in Distress marks director Whit Stillman’s first film in almost 15 years. Starring Greta Gerwig, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Carrie MacLemore, Analeigh Tipton, Hugo Becker, Ryan Metcalf, Billy Magnussen and Adam Brody, one can see the poster below via Collider. The use of Comic Sans isn’t necessarily enticing, but I like the title design. The film will hit theaters on April 6th.

Damsels in Distress is a comedy about a trio of beautiful girls as they set out to revolutionize life at a grungy American university – the dynamic leader Violet Wister (Greta Gerwig), principled Rose (Megalyn Echikunwoke) and sexy Heather (Carrie MacLemore). They welcome transfer student Lily (Analeigh Tipton) into their group, which seeks to help severely depressed students with a program of good hygiene and musical dance numbers. The girls become romantically entangled with a series of men – including smooth Charlie (Adam Brody), dreamboat Xavier (Hugo Becker), the mad frat-pack of Frank (Ryan Metcalf) and Thor (Billy Magnussen) – who threaten the girls’ friendship and sanity.

We’ve also got the poster for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, the debut film from the writer of Nick & Norah, Lorene ScafariaStarring Steve Carell and Keira Knightley, I’m looking forwad to the premise of a post-apocalyptic road trip. A trailer is set to debut very, very soon so I’ll save more comments for that. Check out the poster from Yahoo below for the film arriving late June.

Last up we have a new poster for The Pirates! Band of Misfits, from Aardman animationthe studio that brought us Chicken Run and the Wallace & Gromit. Following in line with their recent marketing, it is a vibrant poster for a comedy adventure I can’t wait to check out. See it below via CS for the film hitting theaters April 27th and starring Hugh Grant, David Tennant, Imelda Staunton, Martin Freeman and Jeremy Piven.

Which poster do you like best? Which film are you most looking forward to?
