In January there was rumors of the Peter Jackson-produced and Guillermo del Toro-directed two-part Hobbit films getting pushed back a year to late 2012 and 2013, but it looks like the 370 day shoot is still on track. Actor Ian McKellen aka Gandalf, gave us an update on his official site:
THE HOBBIT’s, two films, start shooting in New Zealand in June. Filming will take over a year. Casting in Los Angeles, New York City and London has started. The script too proceeds. The first draft is crammed with old and new friends, again on a quest in Middle Earth. The director Guillermo del Toro is now living in Wellington, close to the Jacksons’ and the studio in Miramar.
The film was also rumored to shoot in 3D, but nothing has been confirmed yet. We know Tobey Maguire and Matthew Goode have both auditioned for the Bilbo Baggins role, but no casting has been announced yet. Check back with TFS as more Hobbit news comes out.
Are you looking forward to The Hobbit?
