Forget the cheesy Mortal Kombat films that plagued the 90’s. Bombarding the net today is what appears to be a promotional reel for a new Warner Brother’s backed reboot of the franchise.
Not only does this short promo look great, but it also has some well known actors. Michael Jai White (Spawn, Black Dynamite) is playing the role of Detective Jackson Briggs with Jeri Ryan (Dracula 200, Law & Order: SVU) as Sonya Blade to start.
Stunt choreographer, Larnell Stovall, is said to have put the project together for WB and is currently looking for investors to push the project into fruition.
The seven minute clip puts a different spin on the Mortal Kombat mythology bringing it more into the genre of a psychological thriller. While Sonya and Jaxx play the role of detectives, Scorpion and Reptile are villains on a murderous rampage.
