Up-and-coming director Justin Reardon seems to be in a good place in his early career. The world has yet to see his comedy A Many Splintered Thing, which just finished production with the ensemble of Chris Evans, Michelle Monaghan, Giovanni Ribisi, Aubrey Plaza, Topher Grace, Anthony Mackie, Luke Wilson and Philip Baker Hall, but now the director has already set up his next feature.

Coming out of Berlin, K5 International is shopping the comedy Convention, which already has Jennifer Aniston, Mark Duplass and Ben Kingsley attached to lead. With a script from animation-based writer Christopher Painter (Tom & Jerry, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius), the sci-fi-tinged story follows Duplass as “Paul, a mild-mannered inventor who, together with his feisty sister Abby (Aniston) sets out to change the world of box storage with a new, five-sided box.” Kingsley, as expected, will be in an antagonist role as “maniacal box magnate” Bobby Schroedinger. Things get interesting when Duplass’ invention “risks ripping a giant hole in the fabric of the universe.”

Described in the vein of Eternal Sunshine and Being John Malkovich, as well as “wildly original and funny,” Reardon’s style is hinted to be “bold, inventive and bursting with imagination.” Production is already aiming for a summer start, so if one wants to brush up on what Reardon may bring to the table, check out a reel of his commercials below, as he’ll certainly be one to watch in the coming years.
