John Boyega

After signing up for Pacific Rim 2, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Attack the Block star John Boyega has found his next role. He revealed on Twitter (seen below) that  he’ll take part in Kathryn Bigelow‘s follow-up to her Oscar-winning Zero Dark Thirty. Penned by Mark Boal (Zero Dark Thirty, The Hurt Locker), the currently untitled film will be set in Detroit during the 5-day riots that took place there in 1967, and will explore the systemic racism of the city. With plans to shoot this summer in Boston and Detroit, the film is slated as an ensemble piece with Hannah Murray (God Help the Girl, Game of Thrones) also on board.

With plans already in place to remake Death Wish, THR reports that Eli Roth has now lined up another project, this time headed by star Jim Carrey and based on horror maestro Steve Niles‘ comic titled Aleister Arcane. The story follows Aleister Green, a weatherman returning to his hometown to host a midnight horror show where things go terribly array. He is put on trial, and after an untimely death, strange things begin to happen in Green’s hometown. With a script from Jon Croker (The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death) the film will also be executive produced by Carrey.

Lastly, Michael Douglas will produce and star in Til Schweiger‘s remake of his own Head Full of Honey, which will mark his English-language directorial debut, according to THR. The film centers on a man (Douglas) who goes on a road trip with his granddaughter while suffering from Alzheimers. Check out the trailer for the original below.
