Finding some cult acclaim with its release last year, A Girl Walks Home Alone Tonight is finally available to watch for those that didn’t get a chance to see. After doing so, you’ll certainly want to know what director Ana Lily Amirpour will be doing so next. As recently reported, she’s teamed with Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures and Vice for The Bad Batch, which she describes it herself as “a post-apocalyptic cannibal love story set in a Texas wasteland.” She adds, “A muscled cannibal breaks the rule ‘don’t play with your food.’ It’s Road Warrior meets Pretty in Pink with a dope soundtrack.”

With Jason Momoa already taking part, Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, Suki Waterhouse and Diego Luna have joined, The Wrap reports, who also have the first character details. Momoa’s cannibal character is named Miami Man, while Waterhouse will be the female lead named Arlen, Luna a man named Jimmy, Reeves (who will also be seen in Nicolas Winding Refn‘s The Neon Demon) takes the character named The Dream and finally, Carrey will take the role of The Hermit. Set to sell at Cannes Film Festival, hopefully we’ll likely see it by next year.

gainsbourgIn an unexpected turn of events, Charlotte Gainsbourg will be getting into blockbuster mode for Independence Day 2, which has already brought on Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher. Featuring Jeff Goldblum back as well as director Roland Emmerich, Fox have already set a release date for June 24th, 2016, THR reports. Although plot details are scarce, Usher will take the role of Will Smith’s son, though his father won’t be returning. Can we now get Lars von Trier to replace Emmerich?

In other casting news, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will not only star, but produce a live-action Fraggle Rock film, Variety reports. Originally created by Jim Henson, the long-gestating update to the 1980’s TV series looks to finally be moving forward. Following the “cave-dwelling creatures called Fraggles who have to deal with the industrious Doozers and furry giants called Gorgs,” Gordon-Levitt said, “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on Sesame Street, and then on Fraggle Rock. Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”

Lastly, Matthew McConaughey has found a co-star for his upcoming drama Gold. Deadline reports Edgar Ramirez has come abound the film, which marks the long-awaited return for Syriana director Stephen Gaghan. The Carlos star will play geologist Michael Acosta, while McConaughey plays prospector Walsh. The true story follows the two into the Indonesian jungle where they start mining and a scandal erupts. Set to shoot this June in New York, New Mexico and Thailand, we’d expect it to arrive next year.

Which of the above films are you looking forward to?
