If you thought Steven Spielberg and J.J. Abrams teaming up for Super 8 was the ultimate in cinematic glory, think again. Sure, the two big US blockbuster helmers is great and all, but what about going to the other side of the world?

/Film is reporting Abrams did just that last year when he went to Korea and had “extensive meetings with Bong Joon-ho” (Memories of Murder, The Host, Mother). It is rumored they will “soon be collaborating” on a secret project. Bong would direct after and Abrams would produce. Bong has to finish up Snow Piercer and then “the film will most likely shoot in Hollywood, making it the first film he’s made in the US.”

I couldn’t explain in mere words how excited I’d be over a project like this. The Host blew me away when I first saw it and I’ve since loved Memories of Murder and Mother. I’d highly recommend checking any of his work out and very interested in how it would translate to Hollywood.

You can also check out our exclusive video interview with Bong Joon-ho on Mother we did earlier this year.

What do you think about this collaboration? Which director do you enjoy more?
