With Hollywood’s first major animation of 2013, The Croods, getting a release this weekend, it means studios are gearing up with trailers for the rest of the year’s offerings. Yesterday brought our first full-length trailer for Universal’s Despicable Me 2 and today DreamWorks Animations has another look at their summer offering, Turbo.

Featuring the voice of Ryan Reynolds (who also leads The Croods), the film comes from David Soren (Shark Tale) and follows a snail with dreams of getting into the racing game. After a brief teaser, this one actually opens up the story and looks to be cashing in on the success of Pixar’s Cars franchise. Check it out below, along with the poster, for film also featuring voice work by Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzmán, Bill Hader, Richard Jenkins, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson.

Synopsis:

From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, Turbo is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500.

Turbo opens on July 19th, 2013.
