After delivering one of the best films of the decade with Let The Right One In, I’ve been highly anticipating the English-language debut for director Tomas Alfredson. After Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck impressed with The Lives of Others, his debut over here, The Tourist, didn’t go over so well. It seems as if Alfredson is taking more serious approach, with an excellent cast, so my faith continues.

Based on John Le Carre‘s spy thriller, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy stars Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Ciaran Hinds, Mark Strong, Svetlana Khodchenko, Toby Jones, John Hurt, Stephen Graham and Kathy Burke.

The film has been shooting since late September and JustJared (via CinemaBlend) has captured our first look at a tattooed Tom Hardy. It is great to see the star rise after his excellent turn in Bronson, then his popularity skyrocket with Christopher Nolan‘s Inception. Synopsis: It is now beyond doubt that a mole, implanted decades ago by Moscow Centre, has burrowed his way into the highest echelons of British Intelligence. His treachery has already blown some of its most vital operations and its best networks. It is clear that the double agent is one of its own kind. But which one? George Smiley is assigned to identify him. And once identified, the traitor must be destroyed.

If you missed Gary Oldman as Smiley, see the picture that the DailyMail posted last month.

Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy will hit theaters next fall.
