Way back in October we got the news (then confirmation) that our first extended look at Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises in front of Paramount’s big blockbuster Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. With the release just a few weeks away, details are finally be firmed up. Coming from Nolan Fans, the six-minute opening sequence will only arrive in 70mm IMAX as we’ve already known, but it will be in much less theaters than an expected. Check out the list below, but first there is a message from Christopher Nolan.

Our experience on The Dark Knight shooting and projecting IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film was inspiring. The immersive quality of the image goes beyond any other filmmaking tool available, and in revisiting Gotham, we were determined to shoot even more of the movie in this unique format. Giving the fans an early look at an IMAX sequence is a great way to draw attention to what I believe will be an incredible way to experience our story when it comes out next summer.
