Director F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job, Law Abiding Citizen) is attached to direct mystery-thriller Hair of the Dog reports Variety.

The film, written by Kirsten Elms, is about an executive who is subjected to blackmail which threatens to destroy his family, but he discovers he is a pawn in a larger and darker scheme. No-one has yet been cast in any of the roles in these early stages.

Gray was talked about for helming duties on the Kane and Lynch adaptation only two months ago, but we don’t know if his attachment to this officially spells curtains for his involvement there. Whether he is the right fit for this particular project should come to light as more details on the plot are released. While his films tend to be no more than slick entertainment, and more often than not contain a wronged-protagonist, his results are varying. Law Abiding Citizen was an incoherent mess, The Italian Job was fun in places but instantly forgettable, however The Negotiator proved to be enthralling entertainment, one I generally try to catch whenever it’s on.
