There are few women in the world that I would run over a stray puppy for, but in the case of Aubrey Plaza, I’d not only run it over, I’d back up two or three times to make sure it was a good hit (I really hope she isn’t a dog lover). Ever since she showed up in Funny People as the female love interest of Seth Rogen, she has continually impressed in both film (Mystery Team, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) and television (Parks and Recreation). However, she has only been part of ensemble in all of these cases and I have been waiting to see when she was going to star in something.

Well, the time is upon us because according to the folks at /Film, she has been attached to star in The Hand Job, a sex comedy that takes place in 1993. Plaza, should it go from attached to one hundred percent confirmed, would be playing the lead, a high school graduate who decides to increase her sexual experience ten fold before she starts college. Sounds kind of like the female version of Jim in American Pie, but hopefully a lot funnier.

The Hand Job was one of the scripts on the 2009 edition of The Black List, which lists the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood for all the industry types looking for their next hit. Logic dictates that means the script must be funny, but Cop Out was also on that list at one point, so keep that in mind. The movie itself also doesn’t have a director or even funding at this point. Given the positive response to a script reading at the Austin Film Festival earlier this week, I don’t see why it shouldn’t get made.

Either way, on a personal “creepy stalker” level, I hope Plaza does get the role and ascends into superstardom. Unlike most actresses (ahem KRISTEN STEWART), she actually deserves it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go pray at my Aubrey Plaza shrine…I mean…uh…my “NOT Aubrey Plaza shrine” shrine. Phew, I covered that up well.

Are you a fan of Plaza? Would you like to see her in this project?
