Although Lars von Trier‘s latest work centers around the journey of Charlotte Gainsbourg‘s character, much of the publicity attention will likely surround the Shia LaBeouf, who seemingly only appears in one of eight chapters in the film. The Transformers actor has been trying hard at shedding his image with roles in Lawless, The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman, The Company You Keep and more, but it will be this film, if anything, that likely does the trick.

After unveiling the first NSFW still yesterday, as well as the first chapter tease (embedded below if you missed it), our second has now arrived. Featuring Stacy Martin playing a younger version of Gainsbourg’s Joe and LaBeouf’s Jerôme meeting at work, our latter character sets up a scenario to get closer to her. Check out the clip below for the film also starring Stellan Skarsgård, Jamie Bell, Stacy Martin, Christian Slater, Uma Thurman, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Udo Kier and Jean-Marc Barr.

Chapter 2:

Jerôme

“Love is just lust with jealousy added”

Though love is a shallow feeling in the eyes of the cynical nymphomaniac, young Joe is met by forces penetrating her armoured defences.

His name is Jerôme.

Synopsis:

The film is a wild and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgård), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi-faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.

Nymphomaniac opens internationally at the end of the year, with an early 2014 U.S. release date confirmed by Magnolia.
