Hosting screenings of such films as Christopher Nolan‘s Following and Oren Peli‘s Paranormal Activity, Slamdance Film Festival has been a birthplace for discoveries akin to its neighbor Sundance Film Festival. Today we have new trailers for one of last year’s most acclaimed premieres, Welcome to Pine Hill.

While Keith Miller’s drama quietly shuffled into theaters a few weeks ago, it’s now on VOD and will land this weekend in Los Angeles, so distributors Oscilloscope Laboratories have unleashed a new look. Our colleague Jordan Hoffman was a major fan, saying the director is a “bold, new visual artist and lead actor Shanon Harper is a unique, mesmerizing presence.” Check out the promising two trailers and poster below for the tale of redemption.

Synopsis:

WELCOME TO PINE HILL is an extension of Miller’s earlier short film PRINCE/WILLIAM, about an unexpected encounter surrounding a lost dog. Blurring the line between documentary and fiction, PINE HILL follows that short’s protagonist Shannon, a reformed drug dealer who is now an insurance claims adjuster, in the days following a grim medical diagnosis. Shannon, portrayed in an extraordinarily intimate performance by first-time actor Shannon Harper, sets out to make peace with those around him and in turn find his own peace beyond the cacophony of New York City.

Welcome to Pine Hill opens in Los Angeles on June 7th and is now playing in limited theaters and on VOD.
