While they missed the opportunity to release the first trailer for Jason Reitman‘s latest drama on Labor Day, Paramount have settled for the next best holiday: Halloween. Premiering at Toronto International Film Festival, the drama follows Kate Winslet as a single mother who comes across Josh Brolin‘s character, a man with a dark past, and lets him into her family’s life.

We were major fans of the film at TIFF, saying in our full review that “it’s very much a different beast than Reitman’s previous works, pushing comedy to the side for poignant drama and a surprising romance formed in the face of an impossibly difficult situation. He consistently gets stellar performances from a lineup, has an impeccable rhythm when pacing stories, and, no less, finds a way to make even the most contrived situations drip with authenticity. ”

The first two trailers are coming online today, with the first being an online-only version from Reitman himself and the other a theatrical trailer from Paramount. Check them out below for the film also starring Gattlin Griffith, Tobey Maguire, Clark Gregg, JK Simmons, Brooke Smith and James Van Der Beek, which opens in limited release on December 25th, before going wide on January 31st, 2014.
