The Greasy Strangler

After a first nusto NSFW trailer for Jim Hosking‘s whacked-out comedy-horror film The Greasy Strangler, a second has now been unleashed upon the world. Let’s be blunt: it’s just as NSFW and absolutely nuts as the first. Still, it is surely only a small sampling of what’s in store for those who sit down to view this nudity-packed, crazed, practical-effects-soaked romp that follows a father and son who run a walking disco tour and who have both fallen for the same woman — oh, and the former may also be the infamous Greasy Strangler stalking the streets.

As we said in our review: “The Greasy Strangler is a risky enterprise and it largely works up until its third act. Then again, by that point, it may not have a choice where it goes. An Oedipal drama about two man-children living in a state of arrested development, the film delivers some big laughs even as its tests the audience’s boundaries, throwing in nudity, sex, and very fake-looking violence into the mix. If you go, enter in the right frame of mind, and be as prepared as you can legally for such an experience.”

See the trailer below, along with a poster.

Directed by Jim Hosking, THE GREASY STRANGLER is a surreal, midnight-horror comedy produced by Timpson Films (Turbo Kid, Deathgasm), Drafthouse Films (distribution arm of cinephile-serving Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas), Rook Films (Kill List), and Elijah Wood’s production company SpectreVision (A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, Cooties). World Premiered in the 2016 Sundance Film Festival Midnight Section.

The Los Angeles-set tale follows Ronnie, a man who runs a Disco Walking tour along with his browbeaten son, Brayden. When a sexy, alluring woman comes to take the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her attentions. It also signals the appearance of an oily, slimy inhuman maniac who stalks the streets at night and strangles the innocent, soon dubbed ‘The Greasy Strangler.’
