If one wants a hint at the caliber of a certain Sundance Film Festival, only a spare few each year make their way to Cannes and outside of Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and Magic Magic, Ryan Coogler‘s Fruitvale is one, playing in the Un Certain Regard section this month. In a boost of confidence, The Weinstein Company has moved the drama up yet again, from October to late July to now July 12th, where it will bow in limited release.

Led by Michael B. Jordanwe called it “a telling and touching movie, serving as a pertinent social and cultural reminder not to forget the life and times of Oscar Grant,” a man who was gunned down by a police officer on New Year’s Day 2009 in Oakland. We’ve now got the theatrical poster (via Moviefone) and some new stills, which can be seen above and below.
