You’ve seen him in films such as The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Ford and, most recently, Compliance, but for character actor Pat Healy‘s next role, he’ll be front and center. E.L. Katz‘s twisted-looking Cheap Thrills. The drama secured midnight audience awards at South by Southwest Film Festival earlier this year and will hit theaters in early 2014, but today brings a new red band trailer.

Following Healy as a down-and-out new dad who is in need of financial security, he gets roped into a series of escalating bets. We said in our SXSW review, “on the surface, Cheap Thrills is a terrifyingly gnarly look at our human limits, but underneath is a cleverness and exploration of its themes that truly shine.” Drafthouse Films is set to release this one in the spring and one can see the trailer below for the film also starring Ethan Embry, Sara Paxton, David Koechner and Amanda Fuller.

What do you think of the red band trailer? Does Cheap Thrills look up your alley?
