As he gets ready to shoot his next film, The Neon Demon, Nicolas Winding Refn recently went on a press tour for his documentary looking behind-the-scenes of Only God Forgives, My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, which is helmed by his wife, Liv Corfixen, and now available to stream. We’ve now got an extensive conversation for it, plus a few other recent talks given by the director.

The first occurred last year between Refn and Gaspar Noé, who helped him with the violent effects on Drive and Only God Forgives. Refn discusses how he actually doesn’t enjoy the process of filmmaking and how it’s more stressful than anything else, sharing a particular story on Drive. In one great section, Noé discusses how he wanted to counter-act the rape scene in Irréversible with something intimate on the other end of the spectrum, but it proved to be anything but.

There’s also a chat between Corfixen and Refn in audio form as they discuss the process of making a film while one makes another film. Also conducted Lincoln Center was a chat when Refn was there for Only God Forgives, both of which can be listened to below along with the one featuring Noé.

My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn is now available to stream and in theaters.
