Following this year’s The Counselor, Ridley Scott‘s next film has been confirmed to be the 2014-bound Moses biopic Exodus, but following that, his plans are up in the air. Rumors continue to swirl that it could be Prometheus sequel, but new movement on another return to one of his classic science-fiction films has us rethinking his priorities.

According to The Wrap, Green Lantern co-writer Michael Green is currently in talks to rewrite the sequel to the 1982 Harrison Ford-led Blade Runner, after original writer Hampton Fancher took a stab. It’s been almost exactly a year since Scott revealed that he indeed wanted Ford to come back as Rick Deckard and The Wrap is reporting that is still the case and the film “will be set some years after the conclusion,” making for a true sequel.

There’s no word yet on what this story may contain, but we did hear from Scott about a scene he has in mind. There was also talk of a female protagonist in the center, but considering this one is a great deal off for the director, we can expect updates to trickle in over the next few years. Green’s involvement is a bit worrisome, but there were many things other than the script (which was passed around by a multitude of writers) that caused Lantern to tank, so hopefully he can do justice to the beloved first film.

What do you want to see in a Blade Runner sequel?
