As Immortals is helmed by Tarsem Singh, the director of such visually stunning features as The Cell and The Fall, and produced by Mark Canton (300), it is just about guaranteed to be one of the best looking films of the year. An amalgamation of the Greek myths of Theseus, the Minotaur, and the Titanomachy, the film stars Mickey Rourke as Hyperion, a powerful Titan who declares war on humanity. The traditionally neutral gods of Olympus are unable to take sides, and so they leave the fate of the world up to a chosen peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill in his first lead role), the priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire), and a lowly slave (Stephen Dorff).
Below you can see each of these characters (in that order) in four newly released character posters that provide a tempting sneak peek at the visual style of Immortals. Click the image to drool over high-res images.

And here’s the official HD trailer, full of epic-style action:
Rourke’s costume could easily fit into the nightmare world of Singh’s The Cell. Pinto, in her flowing red dress, looks like she was ripped straight out of the end of The Fall. I loved both those films, and I absolutely can’t wait to see what the director does with 3-D when Immortals hits theaters on November 11, 2011.
Where do you stand in the argument for/against 3-D? Will the stunning visuals persuade you to slip on those glasses, or would you rather see Immortals in all its brightness?
