Our favorite Gotham mayor is back. Variety reports that Nestor Carbonell, who also appeared in LOST, is reprising is role, natural eyeliner and all. There are no details how big his part will be, but we’ll ultimately find out when we are sitting in theaters next summer.

He joins his old cast that includes Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine, and newcomers to the franchise Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple and Marion Cotillard.

Last week we got news that Daniel Sunjata will play a courageous special forces operative, Diego Klattenhoff has been cast as a rookie cop who is looking to make a difference and Burn Gorman has been cast in an unknown supporting role. The Social Network‘s Josh Pence will play young Ra’s Al Ghul in flashbacks.

Carbonell will be seen in Dean Wright‘s Cristiada, which we recently posted the trailer for. He co-stars alongside Oscar Isaac and Eva Longoria in that historical drama.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 2012.
